Phi Alpha Delta was born out of legal controversy in 1989. It was originally Lambda (law) Epsilon (equity) fraternity. In 1902, once universal interest became apparent, Lambda Epsilon changed their name to Phi Alpha Delta. Phi Alpha Delta has endured war and depression, but has continued to expand through the years. In 1970 Phi Alpha Delta became the first fraternity to admit women, and gained the membership of 5,000 leading women judges, attorneys, and educators.
Currently Phi Alpha Delta has 330,000 members, and 650 chapters located around the North America and Puerto Rico.
